Caloundra Street Fair will come to life on International Dance Day this Sunday to celebrate the iconic Bulcock Street market’s 16th birthday.

In celebration of this milestone the bustling markets will provide live dance entertainment and lessons to get everyone up and on their feet.

The Caloundra Street Fair will feature four local dance groups throughout the day, buskers, roving Latin dance entertainment, face painting and a jumping castle, as well as the traditional artisan markets and scrumptious food stalls.

While the Caloundra Street Fair has undergone significant changes recently, a series of new initiatives have revitalised the vibrancy and engagement of the Sunday classic which has doubled the shopping experience.

Caloundra Chamber of Commerce president Mike Shadforth said the Caloundra Street Fair is entering into a positive new era.

“We have put our all into creating and transitioning to the next era of Sunday trading in Bulcock Street - a vibrant, creative and entertaining street full of discoveries, hidden treasures and delights,” Mr. Shadforth said.

“The new configuration allows the Caloundra Street Fair to join forces with the retail shops and become one community, collaborating and enhancing the Sunday experience in Downtown Caloundra.”

The new holistic and collaborative market configuration has greatly benefited many Bulcock Street retailers as it enables the market crowds to interact with the stalls and the shops.

Sportfirst Caloundra owner Sean McMichael, situated on Bulcock Street, says that the changes have been overwhelmingly positive.

“The change has been great, there is plenty of room, and it’s a really comfortable walk - it’s a much better shopping experience now with cool stuff on either side of you,” Mr Mcmichael said.

“We have always enjoyed the markets, but we prefer it now because we actually feel as if we are a part of it.”

In celebration of the 16th birthday, everyone is invited to join in on the festivities and share a morning of dance, music and a celebratory cake for the iconic Caloundra Street Fair.

The Caloundra Street Fair is held every Sunday from 8am to 1pm on Bulcock Street in Caloundra.
