Caloundra Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Officer Leanne Layfield has announced that she will be stepping down from the role.

Ms Layfield recently advised the Chamber’s Management Committee of her decision and then staff.  She has been working with the committee, to find a replacement and to achieve a smooth transition.

“This has been an incredibly difficult decision. The chamber has been my passion for the past six years, and I have loved every minute of our growth and development as a leading business association connecting and representing the good business people of Caloundra and the Sunshine Coast.

“However, organisations must continue to evolve, and for the past three months I have been working with the committee on a new strategic plan. The plan is exciting and maps out the priorities for the next three to five years, but it will be with someone else at the helm.

“I want to change the balance in my life and spend more time travelling and on the road with my husband. I will miss the intense interaction with the chamber team and chamber members and all of my colleagues but I’m not leaving the coast and I will still keep a busy diary perhaps popping up as a volunteer from time to time” Ms Layfield said.

Chamber President Michael Shadforth said Ms Layfield would not be easy to replace.

“Leanne devoted herself to the chamber and to Caloundra. She has an incredible range of skills from networking to business development and an almost unmatched expertise in the tourism sector. More than anyone else, she had driven the culture of the chamber over the last few years. Leanne has walked the talk with our vision to be the most welcoming, connected and dynamic regional business community in Queensland” Mr Shadforth said.

“Through her hard work and loyalty, she has given the chamber the best chance to move into an exciting future, embracing our traditional strengths in networking and events and further developing our advocacy skills.”

Mr Shadforth said that Olivia Sainsbury who has been a consultant working on the chamber’s strategic plan and the Caloundra Street Fair would be stepping up as Acting Executive Officer from April 20.
